Babs Whaley has held 4 different careers in 18 years and the variety in her background puts her in a unique perspective to help AllSouth further develop. With careers in marketing, sales, education and television production, and as a lifelong resident of Alabama, Babs sees business in the Central Alabama River Region from a whole-picture perspective.
Babs Whaley is Vice President of The Whaley Company, a marketing and public relations firm in Birmingham, AL and handles all of AllSouth’s marketing other than the marketing of HomePlace.
Babs received her BS from Auburn University in 1988 in Marketing/ Business Administration and immediately went to work for her family’s real estate business, then marketing Multi-Family developments across the Southeast. Babs’ marketing helped the company gain “Developer of the Year” awards in Georgia.
In 1991, Babs obtained her Insurance Sales License for Property and Casualty, Life and Health Insurance and opened a business in Huntsville, AL. The experience of running this company and handling both sales and management of employees provided Babs with a deep respect for and understanding of small business in America.
After the birth of her children, Babs’ career took a different turn. Wanting to spend more time with her children, Babs gained a Masters Degree in Education in 1995 and taught high school English for several years, working in both alternative and traditional classrooms in Alabama, most recently teaching Honors English at Prattville High School in 2002-2003
In late 2003, Babs and her husband, Leland opened their own firm, The Whaley Company, returning marketing as her career. In addition to marketing and public relations with her firm, Babs co-hosted a home-improvement/lifestyle television show in Birmingham in 2005 and 2006.
Babs and her husband, Leland, have three teenage sons who attend Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham. In addition to her volunteer work at her sons’ school, she is involved in several charitable works and teaches Sunday School in the youth department at The Church at Brookhills. |
